SUBJECT :Black Boys from Florida’s Dozier Reform School speak out about their abuse and use as slaves as documentary premieres.
WHAT: Vanity Fair Confidential âInvestigation Discoveryâ will air a program which will shed some light on the abuse endured by the boys who were held at the state owned reform school, the Dozier School for Boys. The program airs on Direct TV Channel 285, Dish Network Channel 192 and Charter Channel 126 at 10:00PM EST on Monday, March 30, 2015. A Free to the Public viewing premier will be held in the city of Orlando, FL to allow everyone to view this program and discuss any issues relevant to their friends and/or relatives that attended the Dozier Reform school and anyone who wants to be informed of the devastating events that occurred during the schools operation.
This program will show the abuse forced on an abundant number of blacks who were picked up in various parts of America and the state of Florida and subsequently ordered by the court system to go to the Dozier Reform School in Marianna, FL. There Black youth were used as slaves to perform backbreaking labor to turn profits. Documents have been discovered were the Black boys at Dozier provided slave labor for crops that were given to the wealthy to sell and turn profit while these boys were held captive for minor violations. Many of the boys came from families with no resources to contest this enslavement and abuse or were orphans and didnât have families to fight for them. Dark Days of Horror at Dozier Rapes, Murders, Beatings and Slavery: “Unfold at Dozier Reform School for Boysâ written by African American Men who attended Dozier Reform School and peonage/modern day slavery researcher Antoinette Harrell tells a horrid account of a situation we are all too familiar with today, discipline used to turn a profit, abuse and oppress. At this event, the issue of black females that were incarcerated for the purpose of slavery at the Dozier Reform School will also be discussed.
WHO: Richard Huntley, Johnny Lee Gaddy, John Bonner, Arthur Huntley and many other black boys of Dozier Reform School who were used as slaves will attend this Premier and discussion. The community is invited and food will be served.
